Welcome to “Online Bible Study” (OBS).
Before you begin your study
with us, let me make a few suggestions that will help you in your study.
First: Since this is a “Bible study,” we
strongly suggest that you obtain a good translation of the Bible and keep it
open before you as you study.
Some of the better translations include the King James Version, the New
King James Translations, the American Standard Version, and the English Standard
Version. Most of these
are available at any good book store.
Second: Keep a pencil and paper handy to write
down passages, lessons you learn, questions you might have or comments you want
to send our way.
Third: In order to get the best benefit from
your study, we suggest that you read each passage from your own Bible. If
you are not familiar with the books of the Bible, be patient, you will
eventually begin to get from one passage to another with greater ease as you
study.
Fourth: After reading the passage, meditate on
it for a moment or two before answering the questions. See what you learn from the very first
reading. What is the word of God saying to you in the
passage under consideration?
Fifth: After studying the passage, read the
questions under that passage and answer it based upon what that scripture
says. We recommend that you avoid
any temptation to answer based upon what you feel, or what you might know from
other passages, but to let the passage you are reading give you the answer.
Seventh: Once you have submitted your lesson for
grading, the website will take you to the answer sheet for that lesson. I have provided a reading of each
passage in the American Standard Version, along with some lessons that might be
important in your study, and perhaps some illustrations to help in understanding
the point we want to make. At each
answer sheet throughout your study you will be able to print a copy of all
answers, comments, passages, etc. that I have used in PDF format. That way you can keep a
record of each lesson, and answers.
Sincerely,
Tom
